Knitted summer tops I love + some free patterns

I knit all year round, and in the summer months I focus on lighter knits, smaller projects and summer friendly yarns. But since summer in the west coast of Norway really isnt´ that warm, I can still wear wool a lot of the time. (We rearely get over 20 degrees celscius..)

There is sooo many beautiful patterns for knitted summer tops out there now - and I wanna knit them all! Unfortunately there is not enough hours in the day, so I have to choose a few (maybe I will finish two this year...).

These tops are on the top of my summer knitting list:

1.Peacock tee, Lene Holme Samsøe

This one has been on my list since it came out several years ago, and now it is almost finished! I am knitting this tee in Knitting for Olive cotton merino, a beautiful blend of cotton and non superwash merino. So soft and lovely to knit with and wear.

Lene Holme Samsøe is an accomplished and very experienced knitting designer, who has worked for Sandnes garn for over a decade, has released several beatiful knitting books and countless knitting patterns. She has a whole series of Peacock-garments, and you can find her patterns in several languages here: Leknit.com

2. Fleur cami by Woolbird knits / Brianna Mason

This pattern came out august 2023, but I didn´t discover it before the designer released a pattern for a tee in the same lace motif this summer. I immediately fell in love with the dainty, sweet lace pattern. This one is going on my needles pretty soon!

Yes, I know, summer in Norway is almost over. But I hope this is a quick knit (no arms..).

And I think I will wear this cami all year round, in fall and winter under a cardigan, on hot summer days alone or with an open linen shirt over it.

3. Umbria Summer Top by Cookie the knitter

I want this in my wardrobe, it´s as simple as that :)

It´s knit in garter rib stitch, which I really enjoy knitting. Easy and interesting. I am a little worried about how the button band will turn out, it looks a little uneven in the different sample photos on Ravelry, but I guess steaming or blocking might fix it.

4. Love Letter top by Kutovakika / Veronica Lindberg

I love this bohemic Love Letter top! I have several of Kutovakikas´patterns on my very long knitting list. This shouldn´t be to complicated to knit, so this can be a good place to start if you want to dip your toes in to some lace knitting.

5. Hilpu tee by Meijuknits/ Meiju Kallio

Meiju Kallio is a professional finish knitwear designer. In 2021 she released the knitwear book "Contrasts - textured knitting" with Laine publishing, and is currently working on a new book.

The Hilpu tee is a V-neck tee with a beautiful lace detail on the shoulder.

6. Hermeline top by Yarnflakes / Audrey Borrego

The french designer Audrey Borrego has a lot of beautiful designs, and this is the one I wanna knit first. It features a beautiful lace panel in front, and looks beautiful in both light and dark colours.

7. Be My Tulip Top by Macimille / Camille

Another french designer here. Camille designes romantic, sweet, elegant garments, and I really want this top. I also really really want her Ciana Top and several of her sweaters and cardigans.
