All about those nordic knits

I am doing it. Diving in. I am starting av blog about my great passion (obsession); knitting.

I have to do it every day. My hands need to feel the needles, the yarn, connecting, turning in to sweaters, shawls, tops. My fingers are in love with the touch of natural, luxurious wool, silk, linen, and my brain loves the repetative, meditative motions of knitting stitch after stitch after stitch.

Whenever I see knitted sweaters live or on tv, my knitting brain switches on. I wonder who designed them? What yarn they are knitted in? Can I copy it, what needles is it knitted on?

And I dont´know if I should admit this... But many times I can actually name the pattern of hand knitted sweaters I see. I guess it comes from too many hours scrolling through Instagram and Ravelry.

But a blog? In 2024? When everybody is devouring their desired knitting content on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat? Reels and videos are the shit. Why write - its so 2010?

Good question. But I am not doing this out of any misguided idea that I will rock the internet, earn any money or be the next voice of knitting. I am doing this because all the social media channels are so flailing, so busy, so... much. You can not stop and freeze the moment. If you blink, its gone.

I miss an online magazine about knitting. A good, old starting page, where I can dive in to lots of different knitting content, and easily being able to revisit the content on a later occasion. And also, someone to curate and guide me towards the best knitting content out there.

So, basically, I am doing this for me. I am talking to myself. But I love sharing everything knitting related. So I will happily share this content with you.

As I am a norwegian living in Norway, this content will mostly be influenced by modern nordic knitwear designers, nordic knitting traditions and nordic yarns.

Hopefully you will find something interesting to read here, and I would love some feedback from you.

Happy knitting (and reading) <3
